Health and Safety

HOCHTIEF takes the health, safety and welfare of our entire workforce very seriously. Our belief is that all accidents and incidents can be prevented. Our processes are continually reviewed through our management reviews and safety committee’s in order to ensure continual improvement, to maintain relevance and to reduce the likelihood of an accident or incident occurring.

The safety culture within HOCHTIEF goes beyond purely following our company procedures. Safety is a live subject that we are always looking to develop and improve upon.

Behavioural safety is a key feature for ensuring that our sites are being run safely and we encourage all our workers to pay attention to their behaviour and not just notice boards. We actively promote feedback and suggestions from our workforce and fully review and respond to all comments that are made.

HOCHTIEF recognise the benefits that come with an effective safety culture and we are currently adopting various new principals to further enhance our culture. These steps have been defined in our corporate safety strategy which is followed on all our sites.

Our Integrated Management System (which incorporates our Health and Safety Management System) is accredited to OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 as well as Link Up version 2 and Network Rail’s Principal Contractors License.
