Baglan Energy Park is high-profile, largescale PPP development located off Junction 41 of the M41 and nestling on the windswept shores of Swansea Bay. It is one of the largest investment projects to come to Wales in recent years and is supported by the Welsh Development Agency, Neath Port Talbot Borough Council and BP.

The site, which aims to be a shining example of sustainable building design with many environmentally-friendly features, spans 500 hectares and is a low-density development with considerable space for businesses to expand. The Intertissue plant, a 74,322mē facility occupies the largest plot on the site.

The construction of the factory has a true pan-European flavour and involves suppliers and sub-contractors from Poland, the UK, France, Finland, Germany, Italy and Sweden as well as local scaffolding firms, with materials being shipped in from several countries Work on the factory roof began in the summer of 2005. The local Welsh businesses also benefited from the project with the creation of a number of new jobs.
